Colouring Eggs for Easter:
To colour your eggs by hand, you can paint the egg or dip dye it (this is quicker and easier).
1. Remove the egg without breaking the shell
Using real eggs, remove raw yolk and egg white and keep the shell intact.
With a sterile pin or skewer, pierce the top and tail of the fresh egg.
With a straw, blow the egg out the other end of the egg. Or use the suction power of an empty plastic water bottle at one end of the egg to blow the yolk and egg white out.
Wash the emptied egg shell in warm, soapy water and allow to dry.
Alternatively, hard boil your eggs and decorate with safe dyes created by hand from vegetables or store bought food colouring.
2. Use household products to colour your eggs
Use simple household products to decorate your eggs. If you are using hard boiled eggs and plan on eating the eggs, then it is best to decorate with safe dyes such as store bought food colouring or if you are feeling adventurous, use colouring created from food sources.
