Markus Jungmann

Based on the Beara Peninsula where he connects with the rich and ever-changing colours, shapes and atmospheres of the surrounding mountains, ceramic artist Markus Jungmann creates fine porcelain pieces of exceptional quality that are produced in small quantities.

The forms he creates follow clear contemporary lines and are decorated with intense, expressive surfaces and vivid colour schemes produced by his hand glazes. The glazing process itself is environmentally conscious, recycling locally sourced wood ash and using natural minerals in a high temperature firing process that makes the use of poisonous substances unnecessary. The spectrum of colours, especially the reds, are produced by manipulating the firing atmosphere in a manually controlled gas kiln.
