Debbie Godsells visual practice investigates the interplay between landscape and self. Personal mythologies collide with the concept of the ‘Thin place’. Through the use of print and lens-based imagery she examines our efforts to discover our ‘true nature’ through the natural world and surrounds.
She is interested in the many ways we attempt to connect with place through the appropriation of memory, landscape imagery, history and nature. This current body of work looks at how we bring the internal and external worlds together and how this translates into our ordinary lives.
